IDSHS Registration Guidelines

Eligibility and Process for Irish Draught and Irish Sport
Horse Pedigree Registration –
A Quick Reference Guide

IDSHS is committed to pedigree registering Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horses, ensuring the accurate documentation and recognition of these breeds.

Here’s a quick reference guide to the pedigree requirements for registering your horse:

Verifiable Registered Irish Draught (RID) Blood:

  • All horses with verifiable Registered Irish Draught (RID) blood are eligible for Pedigree Registration. This means we have to confirm Sire and Dam before we can finalise your horse’s registration, by way of DNA.
  • Geldings, Fillies and Mares require a minimum of 1/8th (12.5% or greater) verifiable RID blood for ISH pedigree registration.
  • Colts and Stallions must have a minimum of 1/4 (25% or greater) verifiable RID blood for ISH pedigree registration. This does not affect currently registered stallions but may impact their progeny.

Other Important Details:

  • Progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions born prior to 2015 are eligible for pedigree registration.
  • Fillies, mares, and geldings from the progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions are eligible for pedigree registration.
  • Colts from the progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions are not eligible for pedigree registration.

For more comprehensive information, please refer to the full Operating Regulations available on our Members Page. If you have any questions about registration requirements, costs, or any other concerns, our President, Secretary or Registrar will be delighted to assist you.

Feel free to reach out to them for guidance.

We are dedicated to maintaining accurate pedigrees and supporting the integrity of Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horses.
